AESTHETIC PHILOSOPHY
Beck Sullivan is an interdisciplinary artist living and working in Denver Colorado. Originally from New York, she graduated from James Madison university with a double concentration in printmaking and metals and jewelry making. Much of her work explores comparative religion and mythology specifically in reference to goddesses and their forgotten stories. However, it has evolved into rediscovering the beauty of what it means to be human stripped of contemporary judo-christian morays and social dogmas. Her work isn’t meant to instill shock or awe in the eyes of the spectator but rather remind them that there is still beauty in a world that often doesn’t value it inherently. She views art as a tool used to translate what cannot be put into words; only felt and experienced. Her art has a strong emphasis on the idea of art for arts sake - to reintroduce art as a pleasure, one meant to unite humanity in a shared experience rather than as a statement about the often cruel and grim realities of the world.
